François Flameng (French, 1856 - 1923)

A student of Cabanel and of J.P. Laurens, Flameng was an exceptional painter of the Fête Champêtre and scenes of leisure and the good life of the 18th century, of soldiers and military scenes of France’s past, and of elegant and complex portraits. He exhibited regularly at the Salon beginning in 1873. He medaled at the Salon of 1879 and won the Grand Prix at the Exposition Universelle in Paris in 1889.
